The company gave ehouse a seemingly straightforward challenge to gnaw on: migrate its growing meat and seafood business from Magento to Shopify. This would enable the D2C business to scale and provide a more user-friendly and flexible experience for product and marketing teams. However, the company had some complex ERP platform requirements for product bundling and subscriptions, as well as significant limitations around shipping and delivery schedules that had to be accommodated.
Legacy systems mean there’s no one-size-fits all solution. The solution required customization to meet the company’s ERP requirements for inventory tracking and to streamline fulfillment of gift boxes and other bundles. Using Recharge, ehouse integrated a dynamic product bundling system on the backend (for the ERP) – that looked like customer-friendly, curated bundles and subscriptions on the website and in checkout.
ehouse also addressed challenges around complex shipping requirements for raw, refrigerated meat. The team developed a solution to show different shipping options and rates for subscriptions versus one-time purchases, as well as different shipping delivery schedules based on a customer’s address.
To enhance the customer experience and increase average order value (AOV), ehouse integrated Rebuy for personalized cross-sells and upsells on product pages, in the cart, and in checkout. We also created a custom Shopify flow to query and send shipping data to Klaviyo for automated customer emails with delivery dates and shipping information.
The combination of bundling, subscriptions, and upsell/cross-sell functionality delivered transformative results for the brand’s ecommerce performance.
Because they ship raw meat nationwide, delivery schedules had to adjust based on the customer’s location and warehouse availability. We pushed dynamically updated delivery date information to customer notifications to provide shipping accuracy. On the front end, we customized product bundles so they appeared as a single item in the cart but were processed correctly as separate items at checkout.
