Power Play: Smart Optimization Strategies for a Winning CX

Canadian hockey equipment brand Winnwell wants more people to play Canada’s favorite sport. The company is dedicated to providing a range of quality hockey gear at an accessible price for all levels of players. Primarily sold through retailers, Winnwell plans to grow its online presence and needed a Shopify expert – ehouse – to help it strategically set up for success.

The Challenge


Winnwell, which primarily sells its products through third-party retailers, wanted to move off a legacy build on BigCommerce that was limiting future growth and causing operational headaches.

The Solution

To help Winnwell establish a robust foundation for future growth, ehouse brought its a-game, providing expertise in Shopify, UX/UI best practices, and optimization strategy.

Replatforming to Shopify: ehouse’s first big play was to replatform Winnwell’s B2C business to Shopify from BigCommerce. Using Shopify Markets enabled consolidation of separate domains to a single domain for both Canadian and U.S. markets while still handling different currencies and managing separate inventory from a central hub.

Enhanced shopping experience: Working within Shopify’s native functionality, ehouse updated the site design using a modern theme and configured a clear mega menu to organize the company’s extensive product catalog.

Improved product discoverability: ehouse optimized Winnwell’s catalog to increase product findability. This included restructuring Winnwell’s information architecture and site taxonomy to improve navigation, restructuring the product page (PDP), and enabling more granular filtering (e.g., by size and age).

Custom workflows: ehouse built an automated SICA (Sports Industry Credit Association)  integration with BlueLink ERP to seamlessly sync credit reports. The team also created workflows to sync Shopify and BlueLink for inventory, orders, and fulfillment.

Launching on Shopify provided Winnwell’s team with a scalable platform with easy-to-manage content, freeing up team resources that were previously dedicated to manual tasks and troubleshooting.
