Your store locator is the most under-used conversion asset you own, and it is 3 clicks deep in the footer.
What changed is that a local promise is now computable in real time. Inventory by location gives you stock at the shelf, and same-day courier coverage gives you a delivery window. Together they let you quote a pickup or delivery promise per SKU while the page is loading, instead of after checkout when it is just an apology.
So put it in the hero. A visitor lands, geolocation resolves, and the first thing they see is what is available near them and when they can have it. Product cards carry a real cutoff time, not a vague badge. The cart offers pickup tonight against delivery Thursday and lets the customer decide. For a category where the customer wants the thing this weekend, that comparison does more work than any discount you could run.
The catch sits in your worst-performing location. The promise is only as accurate as that store's cycle count, and 1 wrong badge teaches a customer to distrust every badge after it. Before this ships, you need stock accuracy standards by location and a fallback that degrades gracefully rather than showing an empty map.
Density is the other constraint. With 3 locations, most of your traffic sees nothing local, so the geo experience has to have a confident default for everyone outside the radius. And pickup adds labor at the store with no register ring attached to it, so the staffing model and the incentive model both need adjusting before volume arrives.
Speed used to be something you bought from a carrier. It is now mostly a data problem, and the inventory is already sitting on a shelf a few miles from the person reading your homepage.
