Smart Play: Redesigned Information Architecture and BOPIS Bring Customer Experience to the Next Level

Lacrosse Unlimited provides equipment, apparel, and accessories that lacrosse players of all skill levels need to perform at their best. The Challenge


Lacrosse Unlimited’s expansive catalog offers everything lacrosse players could want – but navigating it wasn’t easy. To improve the customer experience on the website, the company needed to add customer education, improve product findability, and better integrate the online store and brick-and-mortar store experience. 

The Solution

ehouse kicked off the project by migrating Lacrosse Unlimited from Magento to Shopify to support an omnichannel, mobile-first shopping experience, reduce technical complexities, and give the in-house team more administrative control and flexibility. 

Improved UX/UI: ehouse restructured information architecture/product categories to help customers more easily navigate the large product catalog. A redesigned mega menu included a “featured” section to promote new arrivals and gifts. ehouse also designed a new, universal page header to prominently highlight links to premium stringing services, team orders, and social content. 

Select-a-store and BOPIS: ehouse added “select a store” to the universal site header, which enables customers to see which products are currently available in brick-and-mortar stores near them. ehouse configured the logic and integrated with inventory management to enable customers to purchase and ship, or to buy online and pick up in store (BOPIS). 

Product findability: ehouse implemented Shopify Search & Discovery for auto-complete in the search bar, and added more granular filter categories (e.g., position, college name) to make search more intuitive. The team also redesigned the home page and created audience-specific landing pages for storytelling and to help customers navigate to product categories.

The Results

ehouse scored big with a winning commerce solution for Lacrosse Unlimited that immediately lifted conversion rate post-launch and boosted organic traffic nearly 900%.
