At {e} house studio, we specialize in helping your business find, communicate with, and win the hearts and minds of your customers — real people, who have real problems to solve. Our Web sites and 360-degree digital marketing programs create satisfying, engaging experiences that create devoted customers — and drive tangible results for your business.

We are currently looking for a full-time front end developer to join the {e} family in our downtown Charleston, SC office, which was recently featured on Entrepreneur.com. This person would be responsible for a multitude of tasks, ranging from email html templates to full site development. We are passionate about web standards and accessibility, so knowledge of, and experience with these concepts is vital.

Candidate would have the following skills:

  • Rock-solid HTML skills, including knowing the difference between HTML4, XHTML, and HTML5
  • Excellent CSS skills along with the ability to code based on browser discrepancies (we still provide support for IE6, so knowing this browser’s “issues” is extremely important)
  • Adherence to web standards and experience with accessible development
  • At least moderate Javascript skills (we use jQuery for the majority of our projects so experience with this library would be great)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (you will interface with clients on a regular basis, so these skills are a necessity)
  • Self-motivation, accountability for your work, and passion for what you do
  • The ability to multitask and to work with a small team under very tight deadlines is crucial

The following skills are not necessarily required but would be extremely beneficial:

  • Design experience or a good eye for design and layout
  • Back-end development experience (PHP/MySQl)
  • Experience with Expression Engine would be very, very helpful
  • Experience with version control (Subversion)

In addition to the sun, the beaches, the historic beauty of Charleston, and the palmetto bugs, you’ll have at your disposal a shiny Macbook Pro and cinema display at which to marvel and get exciting work done. Competitive wages, benefits, a fun and exciting workplace, and great projects and clients abound.

Please, oh please, include a cover letter with your resume and a link to your online portfolio (required). Also, please explain to us your definition of web standards and why are standards important to the overall quality of the web. Send that all to jobs@ehousestudio.com with “Front End Developer – 03192010” in the subject line. We look forward to hearing from you!
