The Chalkboard Blog

What's the {e} house chalkboard? It's our blank slate, where we post important messages, share cool thoughts, trade new ideas and have creative fun. Stop by often for our anecdotes on growing the agency as well as our thoughts and ideas on marketing, design, business and culture. Really, our chalkboard is like any chalkboard you'd find in a home, except this one has no limits.

Fear City

Q: What is your background?

A: I grew up in Hoboken. It is about 5 miles outside of the city (NYC). I worked about 8 years in New York City as a web designer. My years in New York influenced my art a lot.

Junk Magic

Q: How Did you get into Art?

A: My brother was actually the artist in the family. He is about 7 years older than me. He would draw a lot and I would imitate him.
By the time I got into high school, I knew I would get into an art related field.

Q: Why Charlotte?

A: I moved to Charlotte from New York. My wife and I were looking to start a family, and the cool things about the city (NYC) were becoming negative. We evaluated different cities and ended up in Charlotte.

Q: Where do you get your inspiration?

A: Flickr.com is my portal into other artists. I have gotten a lot of inspiration from New York City and now it is a combination of my experience there and what I find online. I am constantly bombarded with new things.

Q: Who are your influences?

A: Barry McGee, Margaret Kilgallen. I love her stuff. I am amazed by it. Andy Jenkins of Girl Skateboards is a huge influence of mine also. I rarely find artwork that I don’t like.

Q: What do you want your viewer to get out of your art?

A: In my art I am investigating myself having fun. It is personal. I am not considering my audience much. I am floored that people enjoy my art. I have fun doing it.
