Finding Pura Vida
May 2nd, 2008 by Chris
Whether you are into surfing, independent films, or just supporting a good cause, we have the perfect night out for you. Pura Vida is best explained in their own words as described on their website.
“The Pura Vida No Pro began 5 years ago when Steve Sanchez, Founder of the non profit group Hearts of Stone, was planning a surf trip to Costa Rica with his crew of buddies. Wanting to give something back, Steve decided to seek out a group of challenged Tico children and introduce them to the sport of surfing. That simple act of kindness was the first step in what has become an annual event that benefits orphaned children and volunteer surfers alike.”
SO WHAT IS THE PERFECT NIGHT OUT?
Pura Vida No Pro is premiering their new film at the Charleston International Film Festival playing from 4-6pm this Saturday, May 3rd at the Terrace Theatre on James Island. There will also be an after party and photo-journal release from 7-10 pm at Villa Sauntario 5 Tully Alley, off St. Phillip St. between Cannon and Morris. (Tix to the after-party are $10, which can be applied to the purchase of media packages available for sale including the DVD, book, and Quiksilver t-shirts featuring the artwork of the children from Casa De Suenos orphanage in San Jose, Costa Rica. Proceeds from media sales directly benefit the orphans.) Tickets can be purchased online at Organic Process Productions.
These two events should be a great time and all of us here at {e} house studio can’t wait to go. We hope to see you all there, but if not we will be sure to do a write up and post it to the {e} CB next week, so stay tuned.
