The Chalkboard Blog

What's the {e} house chalkboard? It's our blank slate, where we post important messages, share cool thoughts, trade new ideas and have creative fun. Stop by often for our anecdotes on growing the agency as well as our thoughts and ideas on marketing, design, business and culture. Really, our chalkboard is like any chalkboard you'd find in a home, except this one has no limits.

The New Home of {e} house studio

February 8th, 2008 by Chris

Entrance HallwayWe finally cleared the desks and took some photos of our new office at 62 Cannon Street. We are really happy with the way it turned out. The office is just as we like our designs, a little of the old mixed in with the new.

Our favorite items have to be the Dime Store sign and front office chairs. Aaron and I found the sign in a small antique shop in MI. It happened to be the original sign above the Three Oaks, MI Dime Store that Aaron’s grandfather owned back in the 1940’s. The front office chairs are also from the 1950’s and were in my grandfather’s clothing store (Starrs Clothing & Shoes) in Boulder, CO. The original upholstery on the chairs was a terrible old green vinyl. We welcome Y’all to stop by and say hello. For more photos go to our flickr page.

Quite a nice little pad you’ve got there.

Why did you clear the desks, though? Why not face the music and show us your premises in all their clutter-packed glory? It would look more homely and actually lived-in.

Joshua to be totally honest we try and keep things pretty clutter free around here as far as the desks go. We have almost a paperless office (to be a little bit more green) and we try to live by the less is more philosophy. I get distracted pretty easily so I keep mine clear of most thing other than a book or two (CSS or pantone book).

We did however skip the corners in the office that we piled boxes of printed materials and the other with products of clients. I agree with you though, we could have used more people in the photos to give it a little more of a used space.

It was hard enough to ask everyone to be on the front of the site and Chris hated to even be in the photo at the top. It’s always easier to be the people behind the camera.

    Thanks for reading..

@ Memo, Thanks, it’s been a good place to call home so far. We have plans for a new move in the near future to a larger space.

@ Tom: With Chris’s background in design and interior design, she really should get all the credit on the office spaces we have had. We are looking forward to the new place as well. More to come soon..
